Evelyn Lozada is suing a notorious entertainment blog that claimed she was cheating on Chad Ochocinco.
According to RealityWives.net, the "Basketball Wives" star is suing MediaTakeOut.com. Court documents filed in Miami-Dade County Court charge MTO with “falsely stating that she had cheated on her fiancĂ©, Chad Ochocinco, with his friend, Terrell Owens" on September 2.
The rumor gained so much ground that Evelyn's employers even blogged about the alleged affair. Evelyn claims that the site then published an article four days later "falsely stating that Lozada was ‘knocked up’ and was quitting the show ‘Basketball Wives,’ to become a ‘full-time mom.’”
Evelyn said that none of MTO's reports are true, and the site has refused to print up a retraction. Since the first offending article was published, the reality TV star estimates that at least 250,000 people have read it. The story has also been picked up by other sites, including S2S.
Though Evelyn denied the reports, she still believes that it has done harm to her name. “As a direct and proximate result of the publication of the aforementioned defamatory statements," the suit states, "[Evelyn] suffered reputational and professional damage, damage to her business, and severe emotional distress."
Evelyn is now seeking $15,000 in damages in addition to court and lawyer fees.
